Njoy Pure Plug (large) review

My size large Njoy Pure Plug¹ is the most expensive sex toy I own. As with almost all my toys, I bought it on sale, but it would have been around $85 otherwise. That cash was undoubtedly worth it. When I want to masturbate in a way that feels gender euphoric, when I want to masturbate in a way that’s about pleasure during the act and not just orgasm, or when I just want to feel my ass filled, the Pure Plug is what I reach for. It’s the toy I use most often and the one that accompanies my finest orgasms.  

For about a year from when I started masturbating by shoving (body-safe!) things up my ass, the large size of Pure Plug was my goal. I wanted to get 1.5 inches (diameter) inside of me. I had heard all the glowing reviews from others, and I wanted to try it out for myself. When I finally inserted it while jerking off, though, I was let down. This was it? This was what everyone was raving about? It was just a butt plug. Sure, being larger than anything I’d had up my ass before provided a sense of accomplishment, but I can’t get off on senses of accomplishment.  

But then I tried the plug a second time. I’m not sure what changed, but something did. In her review of the Pure Plug, fellow sex toy reviewer Epiphora said that wearing the Pure Plug made her want to rub her vulva on things. I feel the same way. I can insert the plug, thanks to the smoothness of the metal, without warming my ass up beforehand. And, once inserted, I am turned on immediately. My dick demands attention. If I’m already masturbating, my dick gets far harder than it would otherwise. My dick’s hardness isn’t Pure Plug-exclusive – I get similarly hard regardless of which toy is in my ass. But the Pure Plug is hands-down the easiest way to get that hard.  

The best part of the Pure Plug is the weight and smoothness of its stainless steel. Its 1.5-inch diameter in the large size is the same as the width of my Tantus Curve dildo, but its smooth texture means that, unlike the lengthy preparation period required for my body to take the Curve, the Pure Plug slides in easily. I can go from empty to having the Pure Plug in me in less than a minute, which is quicker than I can take even some smaller silicone toys. The only problem with inserting it so quickly is that the plug is cold enough to make my ass cramp up sometimes. This is easily remedied by warming the plug up before insertion. I’m lazy enough about masturbating that I don’t bother getting up to get a cup of warm water to warm the plug. Instead, I rub the cold plug against my dick. The chill of it is a fun sensation, and the hardness of the plug lets me apply as much pressure to my dick as I want. It’s far from the intended use, but it’s fun nonetheless.  

One of my favorite ways to use the Pure Plug is when my ass starts to get worn out from a marathon masturbation session with a dildo. Thrusting is harder on my ass than just letting a plug sit in there. I also can’t get off using my preferred method of pillow-grinding while thrusting a dildo into myself, although I have tried many positions to find one that works for that purpose. When my ass is getting tired of thrusting, I pop the Pure Plug in and grind away. It’s a beautiful orgasm-enhancer. 

I would be remiss not to mention the aesthetic appeal of the Pure Plug. It’s a beautiful piece of metal. The reflective surface is polished to a mirror sheen. Its packaging is also lovely. I usually don’t give a shit about packaging since I’m going to throw it out anyway. But the fabric-lined box that the Pure Plug comes in was so nice that I kept it. It’s cradling my plug now, keeping its reflective surface safe from any scratches or dings. 

The stainless-steel construction of the Pure Plug is another selling point. It’s not only body-safe but, unlike silicone, doesn’t retain any smells. I haven’t had that problem with my silicone plugs, partly because I don’t wear them for long periods. But one of the reasons I don’t wear them for long periods is that fear of smells. Stainless steel removes that worry. It’s also compatible with all kinds of lubricants and easily cleaned or sanitized. I wash it with soap and water after every use and sanitize every few uses with the same 10% bleach solution I use for my silicone toys. 

Despite my love for the Pure Plug, I do have my gripes with it. The shape of the plug leaves something to be desired. The stem is too long and protrudes from my ass enough to be visible under some of my pants. This is likely anatomy-dependent, but it’s worth mentioning as I’ve seen other reviewers praise the base specifically. A more serious problem is that the horizontal portion of the base is too short. Half of it got sucked up my ass once, and it got uncomfortably close to getting sucked up there another two times. Granted, that only happened when grinding backwards against the plug, but I can’t be the only person who wants to be able to grind against a plug without worrying about losing it up my ass and having to explain what I did to my local EMT friends. Half the base slipping up my ass was disconcerting as hell. Fortunately, it wasn’t the whole base and I was fine once I removed the plug. But I have had to be much more careful since then about grinding back against it, which is a shame. Grinding back against the plug was my favorite way to use it before that incident.  

The Pure Plug also tends to eject itself from my ass mid-orgasm, requiring conscious clenching if I don’t want to feel a body-warmed plug hitting my feet as I grind against a towel-covered pillow (my standard method of reaching orgasm). That clenching is distracting and difficult to manage while in the throes of orgasm. I haven’t figured out a way around the fact that I sometimes find my ass empty when I come.  

Despite those flaws, I love the Pure Plug. It took me a bit to appreciate it and it certainly isn’t perfect, but I don’t see myself giving it up anytime soon. Trying the Pure Plug just made me want more and bigger toys. I’ve since bought two knotted dildos with approximately 1.75-inch maximum diameters and am currently working my way up to taking them. Just as the 1.5-inch large Pure Plug was my first goal, the 2-inch Pure Plug 2.0 is my next one. If the 2.0 is anything like its smaller sibling, I have a lot to look forward to.
